ZOOMA Women’s Race Series Launches Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K

ZOOMA teams with Atlanta-based humanitarian organization CARE to inspire Atlanta women to get fit

ATLANTA, GA.  ZOOMA Women’s Race Series has launched the ZOOMA Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K to take place on November 16, 2008 at Atlantic Station.  ZOOMA Atlanta will be the second event in the new national series of women’s half marathon events and will offer a half-marathon, 5K, jog stroller 5K, and a kid’s fun run with big perks and a huge post-race party.

“We are excited to bring ZOOMA to Atlanta, continuing our mission to inspire women around the country to get fit” said Brae Blackley, Executive Director of ZOOMA Women’s Race Series. “In partnership with CARE, our 2008 National Charity Partner, ZOOMA Atlanta participants will celebrate their own fitness achievements and the power of women around the world.”

Designed to inspire women to lead healthier lives with more perks and bigger parties, ZOOMA Atlanta invites women to indulge in a unique fitness experience. The ZOOMA After-Party Expo, hosted by Atlantic Station (www.atlanticstation.com), combines a typical post-race party with a fun “girls weekend” atmosphere. Food, mini spa treatments, demos and shopping will entertain and pamper runners after the race, and live music, a catered lunch and more will extend the post-race celebration beyond the finish line. All participants receive a New Balance long-sleeve technical race t-shirt and race finishers receive a custom-designed silver necklace as they cross the finish line. Although ZOOMA events are tailored to women, men and kids are welcome and encouraged to participate.

CARE, a global poverty-fighting organization, will work with ZOOMA to encourage runners to form special “CARE” teams. A percentage of each registration fee will go to CARE’s I Am Powerful campaign, engaging women in the U.S. in the lives of impoverished women around the world and making a positive change in the communities where they live.

The ZOOMA Atlanta Half Marathon and 5K courses will start and finish at Atlantic Station, passing through downtown Atlanta. More information about the race route will be announced soon.
